The Crock Pot and Death Valley

The Crock Pot and Death Valley is a departure from our usual fast fiction. It is a true story. Maybe not a big one in the scheme of what had happened back in 1969. But it had a big impact on our family. And it all came back to us when watching Quentin Tarantino’s recent move, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.*

We would also like to advise we have a ‘Sister’ podcast dealing with film. Please click on link BreandafromBrisbane.com. If you are interested in film, you just may find our new episode of interest.

Charles Manson and Family:  In 1969 Charles Manson’s cult of mostly female followers undertook a frenzied drug-induced killing spree in Hollywood.  This included the violent repeated stabbing of the beautiful and heavily pregnant starlet Sharon Tate. The killings were so violent two books and three films have been released about the event. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the fourth.

Jazz is …

What is Jazz: This is the question jazz keyboard player Clare Hansson asks in a beautiful poem, written for the 50th Australian Jazz Convention in Melbourne, 1995. It was published in a limited edition of The Melting Pot, a small booklet of  jazz thoughts by local musicians.  Claire’s dedication to her craft was much admired at all the events she attended and her sparkling personality is evident in her poem.

Pride

Pride:   This little story is true, and provided a good deal of fun for those of us who witnessed it.  However, for the couple involved, it provided a good deal of angst. Did they learn by it I wonder? I don’t think so.

Here at fastfiction we would like to welcome those listeners from Coorpooroo who have joined us.  Perhaps some of you were also at the 50th National Jazz Convention. If so, you may know who this story is about.

We see that some of you have decided to subscribe. Thank you. We promise we will keep providing a variety of stories to make you happy, sad, or think. But in all cases we hope to Entertain.
