The Bard’s Night Out

The Bard’s Night Out

It’s a dark and stormy night. Anything can happen. And it did!

While this delightful play by Patti Cassidy profiles a fastfiction regular, by way of David Pollard, we are delighted to add two new players to our troupe. Hem Cleveland lives in Iceland, while Geordie Macdonald* may be found in the Tropics of Queensland. Yet both come together to spar banter in The Bard’s Night Out.

And who is The Bard? Well, it’s Will himself, although you will never think of him in quite the same way again once you hear Geordie’s performance.

Duration: 19m.

Written by: Patti Cassidy

Performers: David Pollard, Hem Cleveland, Breanda Cross, John Cross, Geordie Macdonald

Mindfulness

Mindfulness: Every now and again a podcast comes along that is difficult to describe. And Mindfulness is just that: an enigma. So rather than read about it, we suggest you listen. And we can promise you won’t be disappointed.

This little gem was originally presented by Hand To Mouth Theatre. It was written by the talented Herefore U.K.-based writer and theater maker, Tasmin Lynne Margaret Pinder, and performed by the equally talented Jennifer Nettles. It only lasts for 7 minutes, so put your feet up, click on the link and close your eyes and, let the podcast take you …….. ?

1101 Wellington Way

1101 Wellington Way.

The neighbors are getting in twitchy in 1101 Wellington Way. They don’t like each other. Why not? Well, there appear to be some different points of view.

FastFiction is delighted to introduce you to some talented members of The Writers Block Radio Hour as they explore Vivian Lermond’s intriguing audio drama. You can find out more about her on our Accreditation and Performers Page, but suffice to say she is an award-winning scriptwriter – and you can see why when you tune in to 1101 Wellington Way.

However. it helps enormously when you have a talented cast and Glen Dizon, Karen Frazer and Titch Macleay certainly fit that bill.

Written by: Vivian Lermond

Performed by: Karen Fraser as Bea, Glen Dickson as Troy and Tich McLean as TV Announcer

Produced by: The Writers Block Radio Hour and aired on Super Sound Radio, Glasgow.

Godot

Godot.   One word – and even for those of us without a literary background, we know it has reference to Waiting for Godot, Samuel Becket’s masterpiece play of the 20th century. But is it really a masterpiece, or simply an example of theatre of the absurd? Even Becket did not seem to know. Indeed there are as many reviews, critiques, and versions, as there are words in the play. And here is one more.

Godot is another collaborative piece, centered around Patti Cassidy’s fandom pastiche, Godot 2. Details below/

Duration: 21.m.

Ensemble production

Prologue 1 – Written and Narrated by Breanda Cross

Prologue 2 – Written and Performed by David Pollard, U.K.

Godot 2 – Script by Patti Cassidy, Performed by David Pollard and Breanda Cross

2020 Compilation

2020 Compilation is simply a few excerpts from previous shows this year.

There are few who would disagree that it has been a difficult year – yet it has not been all bad. FastFiction has found some new friends, both here in Australia, and overseas. They represent new voices, with hidden talents. And the good news is that they will be around next year as well. We thank them, and all our regular voice actors who volunteer their time so graciously. And we thank you, our listeners. Some of you live in places I’ve visited, and others in places I’ve never heard of until I check our analytics.

And we especially thank Whooshkaa, our platform host, who allows us to broadcast so efficiently and effectively.  Here’s to 2021!

Wanted – New Content for FastFictionPodcasts

If you take note of our Posts you will see that as we go into 2021 we are very close to having published 100 short stories, skits, monologues and plays onto Whooshkaa, our podcast host.  These, in turn are now available on most podcast platforms, and we are enjoying a slow but regular rise up the ranking ladder of Performing Arts.

Whoopee to all of our contributors – and thanks to our listeners and subscribers.

BUT – the Story Storage Cupboard is beginning to look little bare. So we are inviting writers and scriptwriters to join us and submit suitable manuscripts in any genre, and take advantage of our actors across the globe in the USA, UK as well as Australia.

The ideal length is approximately 1,500-2,000 words, the manuscript is character-driven, preferably with a twist ending, and suitable for audio.

Please fill out the form below, or leave a message on the FastFictionPodcast message board.

Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Them Next Door

Them Next Door. Have you got neighbors? Of course you have. If you live in a unit they may be all around you: to the left or right, above and below. If you live in a house they will be either side and across the street.

David Pollard has illustrated his fascination with Them Next Door with a delightful audio drama which may well have resonance with many of us.  Join him as he becomes a curtain twitcher, bearing in mind that he too is a neighbor to – ‘them next door.’ A conundrum? Yes
