End of an Era

End of an Era is really a vignette. A small interlude in the past of a once famous man: a summation if you will between what was, what is, and we leave you to decide ‘what will be …?” Although we pay tribute at the end to one maestro in particular, it is a recognition of changing times, changing values, and tastes.  While embracing the new, maybe we are in danger of losing many things of value from the past.

Once again this little episode is difficult to categorize in a sole niche.  While it certainly shows Life In the Slow Lane, hopefully it can Make You Think.

Betty and Tom – Happy Never After

Betty and Tom – Happy Never After is a gentle story. Life in the slow lane. It is a ‘could happen to anyone kind of story.’ Yet it could be said there is a hidden message.  What is it? And does it Make You Think? We would love to hear from you – and see if we are all on the same wave length.

And those of you who are regular listeners to fastfictionpodcasts, will see that we have changed our opening music.  As it is exactly one year since we brought out our very first podcast, Wheeled Prisons, we thought we would go into ‘our’ new year with a change. A little about that on our Rogues Gallery Page.

And while on the subject of regular listeners – a BIG welcome to our listeners in Romania and Norway. Two very different countries and cultures, but apparently sharing the English language.

The Carpet Saga

The Carpet Saga is in our Life in the Slow Lane Series. These little anecdotes are usually representative of the small, frustrating or irksome things that come and go in life, and are then forgotten. While this story dates back a good many decades, there are probably many people today who will identify with something very similar. So tune in and take a little retail therapy with ‘The Shoppers from Hell.’

Keeping up with Mr. Jones

Keeping up with Mr. Jones is better described as a yarn than a story. Not ‘a shaggy dog story’. By tradition, they are long and multi-directional. This is short and focused. And keeping in line with the season just past, leaves a nice warm fuzzy feeling with you as you come to the end of the simple tale.

We introduce a new reader to fastfictionpodcasts. Trevor Bell first appeared in A Day Too Long, and later, An Ordinary Couple. Keeping up with Mr. Jones is his first narrative, and we think his voice is ideal for yarn spinning. If you want to know a little more about him, go to the Rogues Gallery.

While we like to think this is a ‘nice’ story, our next one will be ‘nasty’. Indeed, The Sound of Silence may keep you awake at night. So ensure you sleep well before we release it. Take care.

The Straight Line

The Straight Line is a perfect podcast for the first day of January.  A day when resolutions are made and people look forward with good intentions for the following year. But this little story isn’t really about resolutions, although it does relate to new beginnings. And that’s all I will say, other than a strong suggestion you stay right on to the end. Because, although we have listed it in your LifeInTheSlowLane series, it will certainly make you think. Which is an excellent habit and past-time to undertake all through the year, as well as the first day.

An ordinary couple

An ordinary couple: This little story has a subtle undertone.  It begins with a simple accident leading to a visit to a friend. Here our key character makes an extraordinary discovery. which will change their friendship for ever.  The moral of the story once again  is – Sometimes people you think you know best, may turn out to be those you know least.

This will be the last podcast before Christmas. So we take this opportunity to wish all our listeners a Merry Festive Season.
